Biographical History   Baruch Braunstein (1906-1991) was a native of Pennsylvania and a rabbi, teacher, scholar, and radio narrator. Braunstein had pulpits in New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey and taught in a variety of universities at home and abroad. He directed a radio program called the "World Affairs Forum of the Air." His writings appeared in many magazines and newspapers and he was a sought-after lecturer. He was also a scholar of the Inquisition and, in 1936, published "The Chuetas of Majorca: Conversos and the Inquisition of Majorca." This collection of documents was purchased by Braunstein during the course of his research for this book. similar items
Scope and Content   A major collection of original Spanish Inquisition documents dating from 1672 to 1739. Consisting of 16 packets of archival material (procesos), the collection includes, among other things, an account relating to Jewish captives on a Moorish ship, a list of receipts and expenses of the Inquisition of Mallorca, a complete account of the case of the Inquisition against Ana Zalls (for "Judaizing"), accounts of cases against other Mallorcan Jews, and manuals for the Inquisition. similar items
